silhouette (2)

I saw your silhouette
– at least I thought so,
only when I got closer
I saw it wasn’t you
and I was relieved to
see you disappear from my world
my streets, my thoughts
slowly fading away in an undefined shape.

I saw somebody else’s silhouette
last night in a crowded park
I saw shadows of a past and
hopes for a future
– far away, seeing all this,
I knew it was right:
how the world had slowly moved
away from itself,
how I had managed to let it go.

I saw shades on my arm,
new colors from sun,
and bike rides,
and summer and just life
– how it takes shapes I’ve never seen
but that have been there all along.
